The Board of the Richmond Hill Public Library is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Bruce Gorman to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after a nationwide search.


Mr. Gorman comes to Richmond Hill Public Library with over 18 years of executive leadership experience in public libraries in Ontario and Nova Scotia, as CEO or Director. His accomplishments in public libraries include leading the international award winning $58M Halifax Central library project from vision to opening, along with the associated capital campaign raising in excess of $6.4M.


More recently at Aurora Public Library, he completed a multimillion-dollar renovation and reimagination of the library space. As well, Bruce collaborated with the Town of Aurora envisioning the new $53M Town Square to include a bridge directly connecting the library to the new culture center.


Mr. Gorman has spent much of his career advocating for libraries, developing unique partnerships, introducing new services, and programming, and showcasing how libraries profoundly impact and influence communities every day. He is acknowledged as a strategic leader, change agent, collaborator, and technology expert with a customer focus and an eye on the future, as libraries continue to evolve.
